Introduction
All-weather Pants for autumn and winter
The AW Hike Pants are a simplified version of our Winter Hike Pants.
By removing the crampon guards and shoe hooks, we created an all-weather soft-shell pant designed for comfort — from everyday life in autumn and winter to snowy mountain trails.
Developed in collaboration with Pertex using their Shield Air waterproof and breathable fabric technology, the material combines weather protection with excellent ventilation and stretch. The smooth jersey lining is so comfortable you could even wear them inside your sleeping bag.
And of course, they feature Yamatomichi’s signature 5-Pocket System.
2025 update
Upgraded to a waterproof and breathable soft-shell fabric developed in collaboration with Pertex, featuring their Shield Air technology.

Form and function
Comfortable in a blizzard
With stretch and softness you wouldn’t expect from a waterproof, breathable fabric, the AW Hike Pants are so comfortable you could even sleep in them. Their simple, versatile design blends easily into everyday life, taking you seamlessly from home to the snowy mountains.
You might doubt that pants this refined could withstand a snowstorm — yet the Pertex Shield Air soft-shell fabric blocks out 99% of the wind.
Pockets for Smartphone and Maps
Yamatomichi 5-Pocket design can neatly store your map, snack, wallet, and other items you need during hiking, without interfering with your leg movement.
Each pocket is zippered to keep snow out, and the smartphone pocket on the right has been enlarged to fit a smartphone with a waterproof case. The side pockets are lined with Polartec Micro fleece to keep your hands warm.
1st & 4th Pocket
They are also lined with Polartec Micro fleece to keep your hands warm.
2nd Pocket
The 2nd pocket is perfect for your smartphone. The perfectly-allocated pocket just behind the hipbone secures a smooth leg lift, preventing your phone from bouncing around and safe and intact when sitting.
3rd Pocket
The 3rd pocket is positioned high for wallets, etc. The long zipper tab allows for easy opening/closure of the pocket.
Key loop
We made a key loop inside the right front pocket to keep your keys etc. safe.
5th Pocket
The 5th Pocket is made to fit the size for the normal hiking map. It is also convenient for putting trash during hiking or keeping snacks close at hand.
Pair with tights in colder seasons
For midwinter or snowy mountain conditions, we recommend combining them with Light Alpha Tights or wool tights. Thanks to their excellent stretch, the AW Hike Pants layer comfortably over tights without feeling bulky or restricting movement.
Elastic cords for snow
To Prevent the hems from riding up when hiking in snow, we’ve Added designated loops for elastic cords.

Material
Pertex Shield Air
A soft-shell fabric co-developed with Pertex using their Shield Air technology — waterproof, breathable, and truly air-permeable.
Developed to improve water resistance, long-term durability, and production consistency over existing nanofiber membranes, Pertex Shield Air uses a unique porous polyurethane structure that repels water while allowing air to pass through. Unlike conventional waterproof-breathable materials that rely solely on moisture permeability, this air-permeable construction delivers an exceptional sense of ventilation and comfort.
With a water resistance of over 10,000 mm — on par with our UL All-weather series — the fabric offers ample protection for winter and alpine conditions. While the AW Hike Pants are not fully waterproof due to the absence of seam sealing, their performance is more than sufficient for winter use.
The Pertex Shield Air soft-shell fabric, developed specifically for the AW Hike Pants and Winter Hike Pants, combines a stretch nylon outer (86% Nylon, 14% Polyurethane) that sheds snow easily with a smooth, lightweight jersey lining for comfort against the skin. The result is a softness and ease of wear you wouldn’t expect from a waterproof material.

- Do not use fabric softener or bleach.
- To restore water repellency, tumble dry periodically at a low temperature (below 60°C).
- Iron at low temperature without steam.

Delivery

- Orders paid by 15:00 JST on weekdays or 13:30 JST on weekends and Japanese public holidays will be shipped the same day. Orders paid after these times will be shipped the following day.
- Shipping and delivery may be delayed due to holiday periods, natural disasters, severe weather, high order volumes, additional order verification, or other logistical issues.
- You will receive a shipping confirmation email once your order has been shipped.
- Orders placed separately cannot be combined for shipping.
Shipping Within Japan
Orders within Japan are shipped via Yamato Transport.
Shipping: ¥500 throughout Japan (excluding Okinawa) / ¥950 to Okinawa
International Shipping
- Orders to North America, Oceania, and Europe are shipped via DHL. Orders to Asia, the Middle East, Central and South America, and Africa are shipped via EMS (Express Mail Service). We are currently unable to ship to Russia due to Japanese postal restrictions.
- Shipping fees and delivery times vary depending on the destination and the size and weight of your order. To check the exact shipping fee, add your desired items to your cart and enter your shipping address.
Size exchange
Choosing the right size online can be difficult. To make your purchase easier, Yamatomichi offers a size exchange program for eligible items. To request a size exchange, please use our size exchange form here. Please review the conditions below before submitting your request.
- We only accept exchanges when the item is unused (except for fitting).
- If you would like to exchange your item for a different size, please contact us within seven days of receiving your order.
- Exchanges are available only for the same color in a different size.
- If your preferred size is out of stock, we may suggest a different color instead.
- If the product is no longer available, we may need to return the original item to you.
- All shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer.
- We will send the exchanged item after receiving payment for the return shipping cost via PayPal.
- Please note that some countries may charge customs duties depending on the value of the item.
- We are unable to advise on local customs regulations. Please contact your local customs office directly.
